A Summer Hyde Barn Wedding

It absolutely poured with rain on my pre-wedding shoot with Fran and Ed. Under any other circumstances, I would have postponed their pre-wedding shoot, but they had driven a long way to see me that day which was coinciding with a visit to the venue to chat about their Summer Hyde Barn Wedding.  So, we met on this rain soaked day on a cobbled street in Cirencester, and immediately took cover in a small underground garage.  I had specifically chosen the garage as it’s quite unique, being quite dark with natural light coming in from either side. I knew i could get some arty photos, though Fran really wanted pretty bright and airy photos, the day dictated the mood of the shoot. Here are a few pics from their pre-wedding shoot ….I do love the sultry mood of it! (we did end up shooting with some wet greenery at the end :) )

A bright and sunny wedding day …

The day did roll round for their Summer Hyde Barn Wedding and what a perfect day it was.  Beautifully warm and sunny and I was really relieved knowing that Fran and Ed would have  the day they were hoping for. Hyde Barn is a stunning Cotswold wedding venue that gives couples the opportunity to decorate the reception venue with their own finishing touches and decor. It is fun arriving and seeing how everyone is getting on with the decorating and it’s always unique to every couple. Once I’ve said my Hello’s I make my way up to the absolutely gorgeous Bridal room. This room is really a photographers dream as it has lots of skylight windows letting in beautiful soft natural alight. Ah, throw away the flash ….yes please :)  Fran looked happy and relaxed getting ready and it was evident that she was surrounded by people who loved her (young and old). Once I’d spent a bit of time there, I walked over to see how Ed was doing and in typical male style, he and his buddies were absolutely fine taking the day in their stride.  Fran and Ed had chosen an outdoor ceremony due to the gorgeous weather, and even though we had a heart stopping moment where we thought the neighboring farmer may be using his combine harvester throughout the ceremony, he soon put that away and  everyone was seated and ready to watch the happy couple say ‘We do’.

The outdoor ceremony was stunning…the sky was blue, the day was warm and the smell of roses in the air added to the charm of this gorgeous Cotswold wedding and a short while later, Fran and Ed were happily pronounced husband and wife.

Hyde Barn wedding portraits …

After a few drinks on the lawn (the guests not me HA HA), I gathered the various people together for the ‘formal ‘ shots. I say ‘formal’ in inverted commas, as I’m really relaxed about them and like to whizz through them so everyone has ample time to enjoy the day. I then took Fran and Ed for a stroll around the Hyde Barn’s gorgeous grounds and we took a few really lovely and natural portraits of the two of them.

I do enjoy listening to the speeches very much, and I understand the pressure that Grooms, Best Men and Fathers are under to deliver something funny, touching and memorable. Everyone does always manage to succeed at this, but the relief when they are over and the pressure is ‘off’ is almost palpable.  The reception room for this Summer Hyde Barn wedding was decorated so stylishly and was really pretty with all the little fairly lights up.  As many times as i photograph weddings, a decorated reception room with Fairly lights does take my breath away a little each time.

After the meal there was still plenty of Summer sunshine and guests relaxed outside chatting, drinking and playing games. A perfect summer afternoon!

Cake cutting and first dances means the night is drawing to a close for me and I do enjoy seeing how it all ends up……first dances are always magical whether they are an intimate shuffle or a choreographed waltz, they make the room sigh a collective ‘awwwww’.

And in closing…..these are Fran’s lovely words about my work  ” To summarise Tanli’s shoots in one word…exceptional. We have only seen the sneak peeks of our wedding photos so far (we got married yesterday) and they have blown us away. We were slightly worried about the engagement photo shoot and posing on the day, but her manner is so calming and her style is so natural and the photos just stunning! I can’t thank/recommend Tanli enough. Just perfect.”     Thank you Fran and Ed for choosing me as your wedding photographer xxx
