The Old Lodge Wedding

An Old Lodge wedding during Storm Eleanor …

I first met  Freya and Nick over coffee in Cirencester to chat about their Old Lodge Wedding set for January 2018.  I was really struck by what a lovely ‘down to earth’ couple they were and particularly, how beautiful Freya was. I was hoping they would book me as i was dying to see her on her wedding day : ) Well they booked me ..it’d be strange if i was blogging their Old Lodge Wedding if they didn’t..ha ha :)  I met them again for their pre-wedding shoot which was loads of fun, literally, it was a real laugh and the pictures were simply gorgeous : )

The Old Lodge wedding venue is nestled in the heart of Minchinhampton Common in the Cotswolds and is the absolutely perfect Cotswold wedding venue with spectacular views as far as the eye can see. On the day of the wedding, Storm Eleanor was predicted and it was particularly cold and grey that day. After spending some time with Fran whilst she was getting ready and looking as beautiful as I knew she would, I went down to see Nick in the bar area. Nick was very relaxed and taking the day in his huge (he’s very tall) stride.  The ceremony room for this Old Lodge Wedding was totally spectacular and the strung up fairy lights along the wooden beams made for such beautiful photos and created an inviting and warm ambiance. Nick was tearful as Freya walked down the aisle on her Dad’s arm and even more emotional after the ceremony…he was the PERFECT groom (every girl loves a man that can cry…c’mon admit it…you love it! ). Freya and Nick were soon married and threw their hands up in joyous celebration as they walked down the aisle. The Formal group shots were next and were done indoors as the weather was totally frightful however……………..my couple portrait shots we braved the weather for and went outside onto the open grass where I have to admit I got some of the most beautiful photographs of my career so far. Freya was so incredibly brave to face the wind and the cold the way she did…you would NEVER think that it was blowing a gale and totally freezing by looking at these beautiful photos.  Once the couple were back in side and warmed up, the celebrations continued with a scrumptious wedding breakfast followed by drinks and ending off with the first dance. This Old Lodge wedding was the absolute perfect start to my 2018 weddings and I hope all my brides are as fearless as Freya was. Thank you to Nick and Freya for having me as your photographer..it was an honour and a wedding I will never forget : )
