COTSWOLD ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

When James first contacted me from the States, looking for a Cotswold engagement photographer, I was a teeny little bit nervous to take on his enquiry as I had never photographed a surprise engagement proposal before. However, I reminded myself that I have photographed hundreds and hundreds of couples , the only difference with this, is that I had to go into ‘stealth’ mode for the first 15 minutes!

First, we had to work out how to actually make the surprise happen. One idea was for me to blend in as a tourist, just casually appearing at the exact moment James proposed. In theory, fine. In reality, far too many things could derail it such as people wandering into the shot, cars rolling past, or the moment unfolding somewhere I couldn’t control.

So instead, James booked a shoot as a relaxed day out, and we agreed on a ‘secret’ code word for when the timing felt right. That plan worked perfectly. Everything stayed easy, the proposal unfolded naturally, and I may have had a little cry behind my camera whilst capturing this lovely moment. We agreed for James to do the proposal in the first 15 minutes of the shoot, so once that was done and the nerves had settled, we took a relaxed walk through this gorgeous quintessentially British village and captured some very special moments.
