FIRSTLY, WHAT IS A COTSWOLD PRE WEDDING SHOOT?
To give you a hint, a pre wedding shoot does not involve photos taken of the bride getting ready:) That, in wedding photography circles, is known as ‘bridal prep’ and includes all those gorgeous and candid shots of the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready. Bridal prep will include photos of the bride having her makeup and hair done, sharing a glass of pre-wedding bubbly with her bridesmaids and the general buzz and excitement of the build up to the wedding. The bridal prep photos take place on the day of the wedding, just a few hours before the couple says ‘I do’.
A pre wedding shoot takes place a few months before your actual wedding day , and I find it to be a very valuable tool that assists me in getting naturally beautiful and authentic images of you on your wedding day. I love my pre wedding shoots and I can honestly say I wake up with a happy heart when I have one scheduled.
MY APPROACH TO COTSWOLD PRE WEDDING SHOOT
My approach to your Cotswold pre wedding shoot is all about connection and enabling you, as a couple, to interact naturally in front of the camera and thoroughly enjoy the experience. My aim is NOT to run through a series of pretty ‘poses’ in a pretty location. I focus on natural connections and drawing out your personalities easily. I don’t want you to ever feel awkward or disconnected from each other.
One of the best rewards as a photographer is starting a shoot where 99% of my couples tell me they ‘don’t know what to do’ or they ‘do not like the camera’ and then watching them relax and evolve into a couple that is thoroughly loving their shoot and embracing the emotion of it.
I often get home, after having done a pre wedding shoot, and receive messages telling me that they ‘loved it so much’, ‘can’t stop talking about it’ and that the ‘experience was better than a date’.
We talk about connections; we talk about what you love about each other. We talk about your past and your future, where you want to be one day with each other. We even talk about what annoys you about each other and I often have couples crying from laughter at this point. It’s all about connection. Connecting with each other and connecting with me. Being able to put your guard down and totally relax in front of the camera. The result is beautiful emotive images brimming with personality and drenched in good light.
DO WE NEED TO HAVE A PRE WEDDING SHOOT
A pre wedding shoot lays a really valuable foundation for your wedding day photos. On wedding day we often have limited time , but having done the pre wed you both understand my shooting method and we are able to get emotive relaxed images easily in a short space of time. I think a pre wedding shoot is especially helpful for couples who are very nervous in front of the camera. I mean, we all are, let’s face it, no one loves thier phot being taken, but some couples do worry about it a bit more than others.
A pre wedding shoot ALSO provides a dizzying selection of images that can be used for ‘save the date’ cards, signing frames, wedding invitations, announcements, table place settings and guestbooks. A bespoke guestbook, utilising your favourite images from your pre wedding shoot , is a truly special wedding keepsake and will be an item of memorabilia that will delight you for years to come.

13 GREAT QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER …
WHAT IS MY STYLE?
My shooting style produces natural flattering images that never look posed or forced. I love for personalities to shine through in my images and I strive to capture moments that are candid and emotive. So, you will get a beautiful mix of flattering portraits combined with documentary shooting.
My editing style is the ‘look’ you see on my web site . I like to stay true to the colours on the day but give them extra ‘pop’ and life in the editing process. Editing styles or trends, such as turning everything a little ‘orange’ or ‘desaturating the greens’ will date over the years and images can become ‘stale’ when edited in that manner (just think about all those instagram filters that go in and out of ‘fashion’). If you’ve spent many hours choosing a specific pink for your flowers or spent hours choosing suits of a certain colour, then I will stay true to that in my edit.
