KINGSCOTE BARN GOLDEN HOUR WEDDING
From Rain to Golden Hour | Becky & Craig’s Kingscote Barn Wedding
If someone had told me halfway through Becky and Craig’s wedding day that we’d end up with one of the most spectacular golden hours I’ve photographed at Kingscote Barn, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. It rained. A lot!
Kingscote Barn is one of the Cotswolds’ most popular barn wedding venues, set high on a hillside with panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. Combining beautifully restored stone barns with modern spaces, it offers a relaxed setting that works equally well for intimate celebrations and larger weddings. From spring blossom and summer sunsets to the rich colours of autumn, the landscape provides a stunning backdrop throughout the year, making it a favourite for couples looking for a countryside wedding with incredible views.
For much of the day, the skies stayed stubbornly grey, and umbrellas became part of the wedding story. But one thing I loved about Becky and Craig was that they never let the weather become the focus. They were there to marry each other, celebrate with the people they love, and enjoy every minute of the day, whatever the forecast had in store.
EPIC GOLDEN HOUR WEDDING PORTRAITS
Then, just as everyone had settled into the evening celebrations, everything changed. The clouds began to part, the sun broke through, and the entire Cotswold landscape was bathed in the most incredible golden light. It was one of those moments photographers dream about. We quietly slipped outside for ten minutes, leaving the party behind just long enough to capture some truly unforgettable portraits. The rain had left the countryside looking rich and vibrant, and the warm evening light wrapped everything in a beautiful golden glow. It was proof that sometimes the best wedding photographs come after the worst weather.
Those ten minutes gave Becky and Craig some of my favourite images I’ve ever created at Kingscote Barn. Epic skies, stunning light and two people completely wrapped up in each other. You really couldn’t ask for more. Speaking of golden hour, I wrote an interesting post on how you can plan for it at your own wedding. Golden hour really is my most favourite light in all the world !
KINGSCOTE BARN EVENING CELEBRATIONS
As evening fell, Kingscote Barn looked even more beautiful, with the warm candlelight creating the perfect atmosphere for the celebrations. After heartfelt speeches and plenty of laughter, Becky and Craig shared their first dance before family and friends filled the dance floor to round off a wonderful day.

WHAT IS MY STYLE?
My shooting style produces natural flattering images that never look posed or forced. I love for personalities to shine through in my images and I strive to capture moments that are candid and emotive. So, you will get a beautiful mix of flattering portraits combined with documentary shooting.
My editing style is the ‘look’ you see on my web site. I like to stay true to the colours on the day but give them extra ‘pop’ and life in the editing process. Editing styles or trends, such as turning everything a little ‘orange’ or ‘desaturating the greens’ will date over the years and images can become ‘stale’ when edited in that manner (just think about all those instagram filters that go in and out of ‘fashion’). If you’ve spent many hours choosing a specific pink for your flowers or spent hours choosing suits of a certain colour, then I will stay true to that in my edit.
