A MID-SUMMER CASWELL HOUSE WEDDING
This was my first Caswell House wedding! I have longed to shoot a wedding at this beautiful venue but until you actually book one, it’s a matter of just waiting and hoping for one! Caswell House wedding venue is just magical in every way. I love the honey coloured stone walls, the romantic gardens with walkways and lavender and the open fields, perfect for sunsets. This venue suits my shooting style very well as I’m drawn to shooting a little closer and capturing those intimate and fun moments. Whilst i do love an ‘expansive landscape shot’ i very much like to capture moments where expressions can be seen and I think that the surroundings at Caswell House lends itself perfectly to my shooting style.
Carly and Craig are such a lovely couple and Carly has South African roots, which i do too, so I really felt at home at their wedding. I arrived to photograph Bridal prep in the beautiful ‘Dressing room’ where Carly and her bridesmaids were getting ready. It was so nice to be able to nip across and photograph Craig and his groomsmen also getting ready just a few meters away at ‘The Old Stables’. It’s so handy when the bride and groom are both getting ready so close to each other.
The ceremony was held outdoors on this perfect Summer’s day and Caswell House, I think, has the longest walk a bride needs to make to get to aisle. It is lovely to watch and really draws you in to this very sentimental and emotional part of the wedding day. After the ‘I do’s’ had been said and the confetti had been thrown it was time for the couple to relax and let the celebrations begin.Â
CASWELL HOUSE WEDDING PORTRAITS
I spent a bit of time with Carly and Craig doing their couple portrait shots. My approach to this part of the day is to keep it really relaxed and easy, with lots of chatting and walking and letting them enjoy each other. The reception was next where the speeches were so emotional, and the South African element to the day, had me wiping my eyes behind the camera on numerous occasions. We managed to get a perfect sunset too, so what a wonderful way to end my first wedding at Caswell House. I have shot more since, and every single one has been super special. This is truly a unique and magical Cotswold wedding venue and you need to book it for your wedding. And me of course! Ha ha : ) I was lucky enough to share my day with some amazing suppliers, details below.
Flowers: Albert and Indigo
