HYDE HOUSE WEDDINGS
A PHOTOGRAPHER’S GUIDE TO PLANNING YOUR HYDE HOUSE WEDDING
If you’re looking for a Hyde House wedding photographer, you’ve chosen one of the Cotswolds’ most elegant wedding venues. Set amongst rolling countryside near Stow-on-the-Wold, Hyde House combines beautiful gardens, stylish interiors and breath-taking views to create a venue that feels both luxurious and wonderfully relaxed.
I’ve photographed weddings at Hyde House in every season, and it’s easy to see why couples fall in love with it. Everything flows effortlessly, from getting ready in the light-filled preparation rooms to the outdoor ceremony space, the stunning barn, and the spectacular sunsets across the surrounding hills. It offers so many opportunities for natural, joyful photographs without ever needing to step away from your guests for long.
My approach combines documentary wedding photography with beautiful, natural portraits, giving you a gallery that feels authentic while still including those gorgeous images you’ll want to frame. Having photographed many weddings at Hyde Barn, I know the best places for gorgeous portraits and how to make the most of this beautiful venue without taking you away from your guests for long.
Why I love photographing weddings at HYDE HOUSE
Hyde House is one of my favourite Cotswold venues to photograph because everything flows so easily. Every part of the venue has been designed with weddings in mind, making it easy to move from one moment to the next without missing a thing.
The bridal preparation space is a real highlight. With its beautiful Velux windows, high ceilings and abundance of natural light, it creates the perfect setting for those quieter getting-ready moments. The light is soft and flattering, making it a dream space for natural photographs as the morning unfolds with your closest friends and family.
The Grange is another standout feature. With its beautiful countryside views and huge windows bringing in gorgeous natural light, it creates a ceremony space that feels both elegant and relaxed. Whether the weather is bright and sunny or a little more overcast, the light in this room is incredibly flattering and allows me to capture the emotion of the ceremony beautifully.
And, of course, the sunsets at Hyde House are incredible. Set amongst the Cotswold countryside, it offers the perfect opportunity for relaxed, natural portraits as the light changes across the landscape.

Morning Preparations at Hyde House
The morning preparations at Hyde House are a photographer’s dream. The bridal suite is filled with beautiful natural light thanks to the large Velux windows, making it a fantastic space for capturing those final moments before the ceremony — from hair and makeup to the finishing touches and the inevitable last-minute checks.
For the grooms and their groomsmen, the Library offers a great space to get ready, with plenty of character and a more relaxed feel for those final moments before heading to the ceremony.
I love photographing this part of the day because it’s where the story really starts — the excitement, the nerves, the laughter, and usually a little bit of organised chaos too !
Hyde House Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony at Hyde House is one of the highlights of the venue. The Grange is a beautiful space with huge windows, bringing in plenty of natural light and offering stunning views across the Cotswold countryside.
As a Hyde House wedding photographer, I love photographing ceremonies here because the light is so flattering. Whether the sun is streaming through the windows or the day is a little more overcast, the natural light creates a beautiful atmosphere without feeling staged.
The views make such a wonderful backdrop as you walk down the aisle, and because the ceremony space is close to both the preparations and reception areas, the whole day flows effortlessly. No long walks, no disappearing guests — just more time spent enjoying your wedding.
Couple Portraits at Hyde House
One of the things I love most as a Hyde House wedding photographer is how effortlessly the venue lends itself to relaxed couple portraits. Couple portraits at Hyde House are a chance to escape the crowds for a few minutes, take a breath, and enjoy a little time together .
The surrounding Cotswold countryside gives us plenty of options, from the gardens to the beautiful views across the fields. Hyde House is especially lovely in the evening when the light starts to soften, and the sunsets can be spectacular. I keep portraits relaxed and natural – no awkward posing or forced smiles. A bit of walking, chatting, laughing and being yourselves in great light, is all it takes to create photographs that feel like you.
Capturing the celebrations at Hyde House
Once the formalities are over, it’s time to relax and enjoy the party. Hyde House has plenty of space for guests to mingle, with the gardens providing the perfect setting for drinks, lawn games and lots of natural, candid moments. As the day unfolds, I’ll be there to capture the laughter during the speeches, the excitement of the cake cutting, the energy of your first dance, and all those little moments in between. Some of my favourite photographs are taken during this part of the day, when everyone has settled in, the celebrations are in full swing, and people are simply enjoying themselves.
My aim is always to capture the feeling of your wedding at Hyde House, creating a gallery that brings you back to the atmosphere and emotions of the day.
Real Weddings at HYDE barn
Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many beautiful weddings at Kingscote Barn, each one completely unique to the couple. From relaxed summer celebrations with guests enjoying lawn games and the views across the valley, to cosy winter weddings filled with candlelit atmosphere, this venue offers so many opportunities for natural, storytelling photography.
Below you can explore some real weddings at Kingscote Barn and see how I capture the moments that make each day personal, from the excitement of getting ready and the emotions of the ceremony to the laughter, celebrations and beautiful portraits that bring the whole story together.
HYDE HOUSE WEDDING
The ceremony took place in the Grange, with its magnificent views over the countryside below. The natural light in the Grange is just gorgeous and I love shooting ceremonies here. The weather was lovely, so guests had the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine outside.
HYDE BARN SUMMER WEDDING
A Hyde Barn summer wedding would not be complete without all the lawn games out in the sunshine. Hyde Barn has a really lovely outdoor space, and guests love spending time out here.
WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Most couples tell me they don’t want awkward posing or hours spent away from their guests. They simply want beautiful photographs that capture the laughter, emotion and atmosphere of the day exactly as it happened.
How to Choose Your Hyde House Wedding Photographer
Your photographer will be with you through every moment of your wedding day. Choosing your wedding photographer is a very personal decision, and finding someone whose approach matches what you value is just as important as loving their images.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS.
A photographer who has photographed weddings at Hyde House will understand how the venue flows, where the best light can be found, how much time is needed for portraits and how to work seamlessly around the plans for your day. This knowledge allows you to relax, knowing your photographer can anticipate moments and make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

VIEW A FULL WEDDING GALLERY
When looking at photographers, I always recommend asking to see a full wedding gallery at Hyde Barn, rather than only a selection of favourite images on Instagram. A wedding gallery should tell the complete story of the day – from morning preparations and the ceremony through to speeches, dancing and the moments in between. Look for a gallery that feels consistent, with a style and approach that you love from beginning to end.
CHAT TO YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Your photographer will be by your side for most of your wedding day, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with them as a person, not just their photography. A call before booking is a great way to get a feel for their personality, how they work and whether their approach feels right for you. The best photographs come when you feel relaxed and trust the person behind the camera.

TOP TIPS

01
Only natural eco – friendly flower petals are allowed, so choose the biggest, brightest and most colourful !

02
Try and have speeches either before or after the meal, and not between courses. Having them between courses almost always makes the day run late as all the plates need to be cleared, and glasses refilled before each speech.
