OLD GORE WEDDINGS
A PHOTOGRAPHER’S GUIDE TO PLANNING YOUR OLD GORE WEDDING
As an Old Gore wedding photographer, I love how naturally weddings unfold here. The open courtyard, rolling countryside, incredible evening light and lively party atmosphere create endless opportunities for genuine moments, while the surrounding fields provide a beautiful backdrop for relaxed portraits without taking you away from your guests for very long.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue that’s stylish, relaxed and all about bringing people together, Old Gore by Yardspace is one of the best in the Cotswolds. Set amongst rolling countryside just outside Cirencester, this beautifully restored stone barn combines incredible food, stunning valley views and a laid-back atmosphere that feels more like an unforgettable party than a formal wedding. It’s a venue designed for couples who want their day to feel personal, fun and completely unforced
My approach combines documentary wedding photography with beautiful, natural portraits, giving you a gallery that feels authentic while still including those gorgeous images you’ll want to frame.
Why I love photographing weddings at OLD GORE
As an Old Gore wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings here because every part of the venue flows so naturally. From drinks in the courtyard overlooking the valley to fire-cooked feasts, relaxed outdoor moments and a packed dance floor beneath the famous disco ball, there are opportunities for genuine, joyful photographs from start to finish.
If AMAZING food is your priority, Old Gore by Yardspace should be at the top of your venue list. I’ve photographed weddings at some of the very best venues in the Cotswolds, and I can honestly say the food at Old Gore is in a league of it’s own. It isn’t just another wedding breakfast , it’s a huge part of the celebration, with open-fire cooking, incredible flavours and a dining experience that your guests will still be talking about long after the day is over.
VENUE SNAPSHOT

Morning Preparations at Old Gore
One thing to bear in mind when planning an Old Gore wedding is that there isn’t accommodation at the venue itself. However, there are plenty of lovely places to stay nearby, making it easy for you and your guests to enjoy the full wedding experience without a long journey home.
The venue recommends several local accommodation options, including nearby pubs and country stays. For couples who want their closest friends and family nearby, options such as The Stump , Dial House and The New Inn provide a relaxed Cotswold setting within a short drive of Old Gore.
With Old Gore’s late finish, brilliant food and party atmosphere, arranging accommodation nearby means everyone can relax and enjoy the celebrations right through to the final dance at midnight.
The Wedding Ceremony at Old Gore
The ceremony room at Old Gore has a lovely warmth and character that really suits the venue’s relaxed Cotswold feel. With its exposed stone walls, natural textures and soft light, it feels stylish and charming without being overly polished .
I love that the room feels welcoming rather than grand or formal. It creates a more intimate atmosphere for the ceremony, with the character of the building adding to the photographs without distracting from the moments happening inside. From the anticipation before the ceremony begins to the reactions, laughter and hugs afterwards, there are so many natural moments to capture here.
If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony, Old Gore offers a stunning space overlooking the rolling Gloucestershire countryside. With uninterrupted views across the valley, it’s a spectacular backdrop for saying “I do” and creates beautiful, natural photographs that really showcase the setting.
Couple Portraits at Old Gore
One of the things I love most as an Old Gore wedding photographer is how effortlessly the venue lends itself to relaxed couple portraits. With so many beautiful outdoor spaces just a short walk away, there’s no need to spend ages searching for the perfect location or be away from your guests for long.
I always keep portraits easy and enjoyable, so you can get back to celebrating with your guests. If the weather plays along, I often suggest heading out for ten minutes around sunset when the light is at its best. It’s a chance to take a breather together, and the soft evening light creates some of my favourite photographs of the day.
The evening party at Old Gore
The evening at Old Gore is where the venue really comes alive. With incredible food, a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of space for guests to gather, it feels less like a formal reception and more like one big celebration with your favourite people.
From the speeches and reactions around the tables to the laughter, conversations and spontaneous moments that happen throughout the evening, there are so many opportunities for natural photographs. The open spaces and covered outdoor areas work brilliantly, allowing guests to continue enjoying themselves outside, whatever the weather brings.
As the night goes on, the atmosphere builds with drinks flowing, the dance floor filling and everyone making the most of the party. These are often some of my favourite photographs from an Old Gore wedding — the moments that show the energy of the day and the people who made it special.

COLOURFUL OLD GORE WEDDING
Their ceremony was the perfect mix of heartfelt and fun, ending with the most incredible confetti moment. I’m a big fan of the giant colourful rose petals as they always create such a joyful explosion of colour and make for some truly epic photos.
A SPRING OLD GORE WEDDING
This was my first Spring Old Gore wedding by Yard Space and what an incredibly unique Cotswold wedding venue it is. Old Gore is situated just outside of Cirencester, about 20 minutes drive from my house.
DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Most couples tell me they don’t want awkward posing or hours spent away from their guests. They simply want beautiful photographs that capture the laughter, emotion and atmosphere of the day exactly as it happened.
How to Choose Your Old Gore Wedding Photographer
Your photographer will be with you through every moment of your wedding day. Choosing your wedding photographer is a very personal decision, and finding someone whose approach matches what you value is just as important as loving their images.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS.
A photographer who has photographed weddings at Old Gore will understand how the venue flows, where the best light can be found, how much time is needed for portraits and how to work seamlessly around the plans for your day. This knowledge allows you to relax, knowing your photographer can anticipate moments and make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

VIEW A FULL WEDDING GALLERY
When looking at photographers, I always recommend asking to see a full wedding gallery at Old Gore, rather than only a selection of favourite images on Instagram. A wedding gallery should tell the complete story of the day – from morning preparations and the ceremony through to speeches, dancing and the moments in between. Look for a gallery that feels consistent, with a style and approach that you love from beginning to end.
CHAT TO YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Your photographer will be by your side for most of your wedding day, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with them as a person, not just their photography. A call before booking is a great way to get a feel for their personality, how they work and whether their approach feels right for you. The best photographs come when you feel relaxed and trust the person behind the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions About Old Gore Weddings
PHOTOGRAPHER’S
TOP TIPS

01
Allow plenty of time in your wedding day to relax and actually enjoy it rather than trying to fit too much in. Think a ‘lazy wedding day’ not a ‘rushing from one thing to the next’ wedding day.

02
Try and have speeches either before or after the meal, and not between courses. Having them between courses almost always makes the day run late as all the plates need to be cleared, and glasses refilled before each speech.
