Flora and William’s Primrose Hill Farm Spring Wedding

On 16 May 2026, I spent the day photographing Flora and William’s Primrose Hill Farm spring wedding, and it was such a beautiful time of year to be there. Primrose Hill Farm is an incredible Oxfordshire wedding venue. Set amongst the countryside, with far-reaching views over the surrounding hills, a beautiful tree-lined drive and wonderfully considered spaces for every part of the wedding day, it feels both impressive and incredibly relaxed. This was my first time visiting this venue and I just loved it.

What struck me most about the venue is just how well everything has been thought through. From the moment you arrive, the spaces flow naturally from one part of the day to the next, which makes such a difference to the atmosphere of a wedding. One of the first things you notice when arriving at Primrose Hill Farm is the beautiful tree-lined drive. It creates such a lovely entrance to the venue, with the trees leading you towards the farm and the countryside opening up around it.

For a Primrose Hill Farm spring wedding, the setting is particularly beautiful. By May, everything is green and growing, and the surrounding landscape gives the venue a wonderful sense of space.

Getting ready at Primrose Hill Farm

Flora and her bridal party started the day in the getting-ready space, which is beautifully suited to the morning of a wedding. There was room for everyone to get ready together without the morning feeling chaotic or cramped, and plenty of lovely natural light for photographs. I always enjoy this part of a wedding day because so much happens naturally. There are the finishing touches to hair and makeup, dresses being buttoned, flowers arriving, champagne being poured and plenty of conversation and laughter.

Rather than interrupting all of that, I like to photograph it as it happens, unobtrusively...

Flora and William’s Primrose Hill Farm Spring wedding ceremony

The ceremony space at Primrose Hill Farm is incredibly well considered. It feels special and spacious without losing the intimacy that you want from a wedding ceremony. The light, the proportions and the way the space works with the rest of the venue make it somewhere that feels warm and chic!

Flora and William’s ceremony was full of all those lovely moments you would expect – anticipation, nerves, laughter, emotion and plenty of very happy faces. At the very end everyone sang ‘country road’ which was an incredible thing to witness and made my eyes well up with emotion :)

I photograph ceremonies quietly and unobtrusively, allowing things to happen without constantly directing people or asking them to look at the camera. For me, those real reactions are what make the photographs meaningful.

Spring couple portraits

After the ceremony, there was time to enjoy drinks and catch up with friends and family before Flora and William and I headed out for some photographs together. One of the best things about a Primrose Hill Farm spring wedding is having this beautiful countryside on your doorstep. The views over the hills give the photographs a wonderful sense of place, while the surrounding trees and landscape provide lots of different opportunities without needing to travel anywhere.

I don’t believe couples need to spend a huge part of their wedding day taking photographs. I prefer to keep portraits relaxed and relatively short, giving you a chance to step away together, enjoy a little breathing space and create some beautiful photographs while you’re there.

And at Primrose Hill Farm, there are plenty of places where you can simply wander, stop for a moment and take in the surroundings.

The gorgeous reception space at Primrose Hill Farm

The reception space at Primrose Hill Farm is just exquisite. The huge high ceilings give it an incredible sense of scale, while the natural light and beautiful structure of the building stop it from feeling cold or overly formal. The large glass windows provide a stunning view of the valley below. As the room filled with guests, it became the perfect setting for Flora and William’s reception. There was space for everyone to relax, eat, talk and celebrate together.

I love photographing receptions like this because there is so much happening all at once – conversations around the tables, hugs, laughter, speeches, reactions and all those little moments between the big ones.

First dance and the evening celebrations

As the light began to change, Flora and William’s wedding moved naturally into the evening celebrations. A very exciting first dance moved onto a joyous and packed dance floor.

An unforgettable Primrose Hill Farm Spring wedding

Looking back at Flora and William’s wedding, what I remember most is how naturally the whole day came together. The countryside was looking beautiful in mid-May, the views stretched out over the hills, and the tree-lined drive gave the venue such a lovely sense of arrival.

But beyond how beautiful Primrose Hill Farm is, I think it is the thought that has gone into the spaces that makes it particularly good for weddings. There are beautiful places to get ready, a ceremony space that feels special, incredible countryside surrounding the venue and a spectacular reception space with those huge high ceilings.

For a photographer, it is a brilliant place to work. For a couple, it means you can simply enjoy your wedding day and let everything unfold around you.
